Municipal Waste Europe Position Paper on the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the award of concession contracts, COM (2011) 897
Following the Commission proposal of a Directive on concessions, Municipal Waste Europe considers European legal requirements on service concessions as unnecessary. Moreover, the proposal does not propose a ‘light’ procurement and does not lead to more competition and the creation of PPPs.

Position paper 'A resource-efficient Europe'
Municipal Waste Europe welcomed MEP Gerbrandy draft report on ‘A resource-efficient Europe’ as an important way forward towards a sustainable level-playing field.
In this light, Municipal Waste Europe submitted some amendments with the aim of building on the scope of the report and assisting the Parliament with our members’ practical knowledge of municipal waste as a source of secondary resources.

Position paper: Municipal Waste Europe comments Technical report for End-of-Waste criteria on Biodegradable waste subject to biological treatment, 26 April 2011
Municipal Waste Europe contributes to the work of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission to establish end-of-waste criteria for biodegradable waste. Municipal Waste Europe stresses the need for an environmental impact assessment that addresses in particular emissions from the process, local health and risks from the plants, as well as the need for soil protection.
