Reduction of greenhouse gases from waste

The European Environment Agency (EEA) has presented a report on the potential of cutting greenhouse gases from municipal solid waste. The report covers the 27 EU countries as well as Norway and Switzerland. It states that these countries could save 78 million tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent by 2020, or 1,53 of Europe’s emissions in from 2008.
The report is an important read for all interested in greenhouse gas emissions from current or old landfills of biodegradable municipal solid waste.
