The Parliament adopts a raw material strategy

The European Parliament has adopted the Raw materials strategy with a large majority during the13 September 2011 plenary session. The report was prepared by the rapporteur MEP Reinhard Bütikofer (Greens/Germany) and aim to develop a strategy based on ‘resource efficiency and the recycling of raw materials in order to promote the sustainability and competitiveness of European industry’. The strategy was therefore by the EPP-party called an employment strategy to “reduce the EU's dependency on third countries, keep jobs inside the EU and ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the European economy.”
